Christmas candy making

So this year i made Christmas candy. One thing i made new, this year was truffles. I made coconut cream w dark chocolate and mint chocolate cream with white chocolate. This is a pic of the filling setting in the fridge.
I got the recipe from http://www.kraft.com/ and i made a little modification to it. There are many recipes for truffles to choose from so check them out if you want.
And than the finish product. Everytime i make something its always a learning experience, i learn what not to do and what i should have done to improve to make it even better. Melting in the microwave is so much easier and less likely to over heat chocolate like on the stove.
I was told they were quite a hit(mostly the coconut ones). can't wait to try out a different flavor.
Coconut truffles

8oz of Bakers white chocolate or i was able to sub w white choco chips for this part(melt in microwave 30 sec at a time)

1/2 cup coconut flakes(use less or more as you desire)
Beat cream cheese, mix in chocolate, sugar and the rest. Refridgerate fillig for one hour ad than roll into balls and place on wax paper. Refridge one hour.

BSU vs. Fresno State game

We went to the BSU vs. Fresno State game on black friday(that was this past friday). It was the last game of the season beside the bowl game they play at. We sat in the south Endzone and it was pretty fun. BSU crushed Fresno and no doubt they would, lol!

I look terrible in this pic cause i was so tired i had been up since 2:50 since i had to work that day at 4:45am and there was no time for nap since game started at 4pm.

This was my best pic, lol! It was freezing cold out and i wore flip flops, but they matched my game clothes. From, working all day on my feet my toes weren't even cold.
We had a great time at the game!

suzzie homemaker making biscuits

So for the first time i made my own biscuits from scratch. On Sunday i made a nice dinner with slow cook roast, carrots, potatos, gravy and my homemade biscuits. I decided in these tuff times i could learn how to make this, and it was sunday. i really wanted biscuits for dinner. For the first time, they turned out not to bad. Go Jenn!!! So I thought i would share the recipe.
Biscuits with Milk Gravy

Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1 cups buttermilk
1/4 cup melted unsalted butter
Milk gravy, recipe follows
Directions
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.
In a medium bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Cut in the shortening with a fork until it looks like cornmeal. Add the milk, a little at a time, stirring constantly until well mixed.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead lightly two or three times. Roll out the dough with a floured rolling pin to 12-inch thickness. Cut with a 2-inch cutter.
Place the biscuits in a greased iron skillet. Gently press down top of biscuits. Brush the biscuits with half the melted butter. Bake for 14 minutes or until golden brown. Brush the hot biscuits with the remaining butter. Split the biscuits in half and ladle milk gravy over the hot biscuits.
Milk Gravy:
1/4 cup bacon grease
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups milk warm
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoons pepper
2 tablespoons melted butter
Heat bacon grease in a cast iron skillet. Add the flour and whisk until smooth and bubbly about 1 minute. Add the warm milk slowly and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to a low simmer and stir, until thickened, about 5 minutes, adding milk as necessary to control the thickness. Season the gravy with salt and pepper. Serve hot over biscuits.
Enjoy!

Scottish/Irish Festival at the fairgrounds

My sister-in-law came this past weekend to visit. It was nice casue i hadn't seen her in a year. She came to visit us and so they could go to the Scottish/Irish festival highland games at the Boise Fair grounds on 9-27-08. On friday night we went and got dinner to go and ate with her and my father-in-law at his house. And than after we went to the haunted World on highway 20/26(its like a haunted house inside a cornmaze) Nothing like they have in Seattle, WA as Siobhan tells me. And that was tons of fun.(I forgot my camera that night.) The next day while i had to work they went to the festival at the fairgrounds. They got to listen to differnt bands playing the bagpipes and so on. So this is a picture from that day at the festival.

oh my i forget to blog

So i am not very good at this. I have totally forgotten that i had this blog site. You know life gets busy. I belong to so many differnt sites i get confused, sometimes. I will blog some stuff soon. Ok one thing I have been doing lately is selling stuff on ebay. I really don't have time for a yard sale so i sell my stuff on ebay and i bet i even make more from selling it there than i would a yard sale. I was a demonstrator for stampin up! until the last couple of months ago, i had decided to drop. So i have so much stuff, i am selling most of my stampin up! stuff on ebay now. I am cleaning out my house and i am going to sell other stuff too. One thing i learned on there is that i sell to people in other countries(and US 2 of course) cause i tend to get more($) for it then people in the US. SO if you want to look at my stuff you are welcome to.

Spaghetti gone messy on Jade

This is a video of my neice. On Sunday my mom was watching my sisterAndrea's kids( cause she had to go to Utah to go get her husband.) We were eating dinner at my moms house. And as you can tell we eat Spaghetti for dinner. This is a really cute video of my neice Jade, she is so cute. well im bias cause i'm her aunt. She is 14 months old. Oh and you will see that she has something special to drink in that sippy cup and thats not my fault it is my moms fault. I think being a grandma, they just love to spoil the kids. So it was just give the baby whatever she wants. I love it! And of course i had to talk baby talk to the baby! video

our non- vacation weekend

So we had plans of this past weekend of going to Lagoon, but things came up and we weren't able to go. We were very sad cause we were looking forward to it. Well i still had the time off from work, four full days off! Oh course there is always plenty to do so don't worry i did keep busy.

So On Saturday night we decided to celebrate and go out to dinner. We've been trying to be so good, not going out to dinner and just cook meals at home. cause that just adds up. Its so easy to do so when its only 2 of us. So we went to The Cheesecake Factory( oh my gosh it is so to die for the food). They have the best food and of course cheesecake!

We got all dresses up, so not just like dinner after work. So enjoy a couple of pics of us. And Brett was cute i made him laugh!

New haircut!

In July i just got my haircut. I wanted something totally fun and nice for summer with this icky hot heat. I don't have a pic of it in the back but my stylist angled it so it's really short(with some backcombing to give it height) in the back and long in the front. Brett says he really likes it, but he likes anything as long as im happy! I'd say Toni Michelle is the #1 stylist ever and my fav! TY!(i know i look a little tired in the pic it was end of day and i was tired)

Happy 10 YR Anniversary

June 13 2008 we celebrated our ten yr anniversary. Wow how time flys, so on June 13 1998 we were married in the Boise LDS Temple. I remember that day like yesterday. So to celebrate it we went to the Mona Lisa in Nampa, ID ( http://www.mlfondue.com/index.htm ) It is a very cute Fondue restaurant in the downtown area of Nampa. It has like this old world charm and it was so romantic, it felt like we had the place to ourselves.

We had a really good time and had fun giving each other tastings of all the so yummy food and especailly the dessert anything dipped in Chocolate, lol. We also did this thing they have called message in a bottle. You write a love letter or specail memory, seal it in a bottle with name and date on the bottle and the next year you come back and read what each other wrote.

Our relationship has grown so much in the last 10 yrs, we have each learned so much of how to be a better half, I love you Brett!( I know this posting is a little Late)
