I love crock-pot meals and we got this really cool crock-pot cookbook for a wedding gift. It as awesome recipes in it, like real ones i would use. I cooked this today. I love to come home and especially on fast Sunday to dinner all cooked, for the most part. So i will share the recipe.
8OZ of mushrooms, sliced
1 medium Onion, cut into thin wedges
1 tbsp olive oil
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 jar (24-26oz) traditional Italian spaghetti sauce
1/2 tsp dried basil
1/4 tsp dried oregano
1 bay leaf
1/2 cup shredded part skim mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
hot cooked spaghetti
Place
mushrooms and onion in the crock-pot slow cooker. Heat oil in a large
skillet over med high heat and light brown both sides of chicken. Place
chicken in crock-pot. Pour Italian sauce over chicken, add basil,
oregano and the bay leaf. Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hrs or high 3-4
hours, or until chicken is tender. Remove and discard bay leaf.
Sprinkle chicken w cheeses.
tips:
I never follow the directions all the way i love to make things my own. so this is what i did.
You
can use canned mushrooms but just use a small can. I used chicken
tenders as i didn't have breast but all the same. I didn't stir the
seasonings around till 2 hours after i put in(which was right before i
left for church.) It probably only took 5 hrs to cook on low. I started
cooking the pasta and i sprinkled Italian bread crumbs lightly on-top. I
than used an Italian cheese blend and sprinkled on top of chicken and
sauce. I covered it to melt while i finished the pasta and etc.
If dairy products are added too early they can curdle.
Enjoy!
